innovation

No risk, no innovation

Is Kaiser Permanente creating a culture in which frontline employees feel safe trying something new, even if they might fail? Do KP executives model that behavior? LMP Senior Vice President Barb Grimm, Donna Lynne, president of the Colorado region and Southern California President Ben Chu agree that taking measured risks—and failing—are essential to transformation and improvement. The three KP leaders recently shared perspectives.

KP teams are leaders in health care innovation

Once again we were lucky to share the experience of attending the annual Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) national conference. The conference attracts 6,000 people from around the world and another 15,000 people attending via satellite. It is the Disney World of innovation and learning about health care improvement and is, appropriately enough, held in Orlando, Florida, the first week of December.

No more “death by initiative”
