Workshop leaders Bob Redlo, and Jessica Butz, co-directors of Workforce Planning and Development, explained the two labor education trusts: SEIU-UHW West & Joint Employer Education Trust (for SEIU members) and the Ben Hudnall Memorial Trust (for the remaining unions) that offer career counseling, stipends and skill assessments.
One of the best tools for employees is the career planning website. site looks at critical positions for each regions Employees know at a glance what Kaiser Permanente is looking for, how and where to train for the position, as well its compensation. Fifty career paths are featured on the site. To get a real sense of what the job is like, web visitors can watch day in the life videos and read success stories about employees who have upgraded their skills and launched new positions in KP.
What’s in the future for workforce development? Look for expanded online learning and maybe child and eldercare to free up the employee for training.
