M. Joycelyn Elders, MD, is best known for the 15 months she spent as Surgeon General of the United States Public Health Service during the Clinton administration. As or more important is the difference she's made working in her home state of Arkansas as a pediatrician, university professor and head of the Arkansas Department of Health. We sat down with Dr. Elders after she spoke about leading change at the 2011 Union Delegates Conference to talk more about how frontline employees, managers and physicians at Kaiser Permanente can and are changing health care in the United States.
