Kaiser Permanente is setting new standards for Workplace Safety by working in partnership to eliminate the causes of work-related injuries and illnesses.
Our vision and long-term goal is to integrate Workplace Safety into the culture of every unit-based team. UBTs are changing the way Kaiser Permanente does business. Union members and managers are working together to make budget, staffing and scheduling decisions, design day-to-day work processes, set goals, review team performance, proactively identify problems and resolve issues.
Through UBTs, we hope to consistently reduce the number of workplace injuries. This section gives you and your team the information you need to cut injury rates and work more safely.
HIGHLIGHTS
Comprehensive Safety Management Program (KP intranet)You will find evidence-based practices for reducing injuries here, or you can read up on the Comprehensive Safety Management Program with its five processes. Strong leadership, appropriate structures, focused processes and actions are the pillars of an effective workplace safety program.
One of the Workplace Safety program’s initiatives is the creation of the Workplace Safety All Stars. A WPS All Star can be an individual or a group of individuals who goes the extra mile to make the work environment as safe as possible for their colleagues and themselves. A new page on the national Workplace Safety website will feature these stories along with photos of the WPS All Stars inductees.
You’ll also find helpful tips on coming up with Workplace Safety slogans here, and weekly safety messages that can be shared in team meetings and huddles.
